2022 Monterey Regional Chairman's Award Winners!

A diverse group of individuals wearing masks proudly holds a trophy, celebrating their achievement together.

The robotics team won the Chairman's Award at the Monterey Regional they competed at this weekend (March 26th, 2022). This award gives them a ticket to compete at the Houston WORLD Championships in April (19th-23rd)! The Bird Brains have worked extremely hard in improving STEM engagement in the community as well as at Buchanan High School. The students participate as fabricators, programmers, game strategists, event planners, videographers, digital artists, and even social media coordinators. And only such a well-balanced team has the privilege of winning the Chairman's Award. Here are some things they've accomplished this season:

  • Hosted 20+ outreach events engaging 2000+ children in the Clovis/Fresno Area
  • Appeared on various articles, and news stations (Clovis Round-Up, ABC 30, and KMPH 26) to engage and excite the community about robotics once again
  • Raised nearly $40,000 by applying for grants, and contacting local businesses
  • Brought back the first robotics competitions to the central valley by hosting them for elementary, middle, and high school students
  • Last, but certainly not least, they built a robot!!!!
