The Digital Landscape – BY THE NUMBERS

The amount of daily screen time, not including for school or homework: Tweens: 4 hours and 44 minues. Teens: 7 hours and 22 minutes.

What are teens doing on their screens? Teens spend 39% of time watching television and videos, 22% gaming and 16% on social media. The least amount of time for teens is spent video-chatting, creating (writing, art, music) or e-reading. The use of computers for schoolwork increased since 2015, with 27% of tweens and 58% of teens reporting that they use computers for school daily.

Smart Phone Ownership- By the age of 11, 53% of kids have their own smartphone and by age 12 it leaps to 69%.

Common Sense Digital Citizenship Recognized District- CUSD was the first district in the Central Valley to earn this recognition.

What parents need to know- As soon as your kids start going online, it is important to explain you expectations. Communicate with care. Report misbeahavior.
