Most Buchanan High School students will have the same counselor assigned to them for all four years of high school, although there are times where students may need to be reassigned to a different counselor for a variety of reasons. Students are welcome to come visit their counselors whenever they need to, whether it be in the Counseling and Career Center or when counselors are helping to supervise the campus before school or during break or lunch.
There are times throughout the year when counselors will formally meet with students -- whether it be a one-on-one meeting (juniors and seniors) or in a small-group setting (freshmen and sophomores). Here is when students can expect to formally meet with their counselors:
Seniors
Mid-September and October (individual conferences)
Juniors
Starting in November and lasting through February (individual conferences)
Sophomores
Late January (small-group meeting in a classroom setting)
Freshmen
Late October "Four-Year Plan" (small-group meeting in a classroom setting)
