The PSAT test, a practice test for the SAT exam, is administered in October each year. Students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades are eligible to take this exam in preparation for the SAT. This test provides an excellent opportunity to participate in a National testing program, and can be an effective diagnostic tool. There is no passing score for this test.
The benefits of taking the PSAT Test are:
- A practice test for the SAT Reasoning Test;
- An avenue for connecting students to colleges and scholarship organizations;
- A comprehensive report with information about every question – including correct answers, student responses, and difficulty level, along with student’s own test booklet.
- All Clovis Unified 11th grade students will take the PSAT free of charge and are automatically registered.
The PSAT/NMSQT -- which includes a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test -- is administered at Buchanan High School in mid-October. Students can take the PSAT during 9th, 10th and/or 11th grades -- all Clovis Unified 11th grade students are automatically registered and take the test free of charge. 9th and 10th graders interested in taking the PSAT can register and pay on-line.
Update December 2020: The PSAT administration that had been scheduled for January 26, 2021 has been CANCELLED.
