  • This years Prom, Disco on The Dance Floor is on Saturday, May 4th at Wolf Lakes. Prom Bids will be on sale this week at lunch and after school in room 353. Bids are $55 a person. You must have your Digital ID to purchase your Bid. The last day to buy your Prom bid is Friday, April 26th! Guest passes are available in Student Services now. Can’t wait to see you on the Dance Floor. 
 
  • Good luck to the Juniors this week on State Testing.  Remember, Juniors, raffle prizes for being here each day, on-time and doing your best on the test!  
 
  • Next Monday is our practice BEAR Flex Hour. Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors, make sure to sign up for your BEAR Flex Hour session by Thursday @ 3:30pm. 
 
  • Seniors! This is an important reminder that Wednesday and Thursday Clovis Community College Counselors will be on our campus from 8:15A.M.-315P.M.  to help register you for your Fall 2024 classes.  Please report directly to the LIBRARY once you receive your blue pass.  If for some reason you have a conflict, or do not receive a blue pass, it is your responsibility to make your way to the library for registration. Buchanan Counselors cannot assist you with this process, so make sure you access the Community Counselors while they are here to help you.
 
  • Congratulations to all our History Day participants for their outstanding efforts this weekend in Sacramento at the State History Day competition. While our journey through the History Day State Competition may not have yielded the results we hoped for, we are immensely proud of our students. Your unwavering dedication and enthusiasm throughout this endeavor are truly commendable.Please congratulate Dillon Custer and Autumn Fowler on their remarkable achievement of making it to the finals, placing among the top 12 in California, with their Website “Revolution on the Rock: Media in the 1969 Alcatraz Occupation. Congratulations to Michelle Acosta and Ashton Presscutti for their website, “The Limited Test Ban Treaty: A Turning Point in Nuclear Tests, Global Tensions, and Environmental Goals. Our participants showed remarkable dedication and resilience, pouring their hearts and souls into their projects despite challenges. Their knowledge, creativity, and love for history shone through, inspiring us all with the true spirit of Buchanan High School. We are excited to announce that the 2024 theme is “Rights and Responsibilities in History.” We look forward to welcoming new participants and witnessing their passion and dedication.
 
  • The Bear Necessities Student Store is collecting Prom Essential Bags for Buchanan students. A Prom Essential Bag is a decorative paper bag, a purse, or a drawstring bag filled with toiletries like cologne, a comb, hair spray, lotion, shave cream, shampoo, etc. If you are interested in participating, you may send your Prom Bag to the Student Store in room 851 during 3rd period, 4th period, and lunch, or drop it off in the main office. Those wanting to participate can donate a Prom Bag with 3 or more toiletry items to receive 20% off your total clothing purchase at Bear Necessities. The store is open weekdays from 11:00-1:00 and 3:00-4:00. Bags should be received by Tuesday, April 30th.
 
  • Buchanan’s Arts & Crafts Fair is on Saturday, May 18. Do you consider yourself an entrepreneur? Do you have art to sell? If you are interested contact Ms. Miura in room 454. Don’t wait too long, booth space is limited.
 
Scholarships for Seniors
  • The Sikh Women’s Organization of Central California is offering a scholarship to all graduating seniors who are attending college or university in the fall and whose annual family income does not exceed $80,000. Applications due this Thursday, April 25.
  • The Denae S. Hansen Memorial Scholarship, Applications due to the Buchanan Counseling Center by April 29 @ 4:00 PM.
 
  • The Live It Up Women in Healthcare Scholarship is open to high school senior women pursuing any degree in the healthcare field. The scholarship is $500 and applications are due May 1st.
